The new iPhone 4S came out this past Friday and I took a video while unboxing it and put it up on YouTube.  I spent a while searching for music till I just found the most innocuous thing I could (no country, no trance – promise).  

It has been great so far – the dual-core A5 chip is amazing and the camera quality at 8MP is really good – haven’t really tested out the video – only a quick one in low light but it is smooth.  I started testing out Siri – asking it stupid questions as I’m sure everyone did. It responds well to normal speech but when I talked slowly to clarify something – it got it really wrong. Still seems like there will be a lot to come to utilize the technology – making speech recognition truly part of the phones every activity.

Overall compared to 2 Android phones, the iPhone 4S is really slick. The HTC EVO was nice, the processor was plenty but the 4S is crazy quick and the quality of the display and graphics on games is awesome. Even if Apply disappointed by not releasing an iPhone 5, until Google releases their next phone, this processor/phone is the one to beat…again.

This phone made its debut at the CTIA show that just wrapped up and it certainly has some impressive specs.  Stereoscopic 3D viewing in a device is certainly newer technology (Nintendo 3DS) and it is changing the way that people will view and create content.  In addition to the ability to take HD 720P 3D video and play back in 3D, you can record 2D 1080P videos as well. 2 5MP cameras on the back of the device are the basis for making the 3D images this camera can produce.  It’s roughly the same size as the current EVO and features a quite large 4.3 inch screen.  There is now a dedicated camera button on the outside and a 2D-3D switch for switching modes on the camera.  It also features a new 1.2Ghz dual core processor and 1 Gig of ram.

Some new features outside of hardware specs are the new HTC Sense UI with some new carousel features, new picture galleries and more.

Sprint and HTC announce the EVO 3D, available beginning this summer

Sprint just got word of the new debut from Kyocera – a dual touch screen phone.  The coolest thing about this phone is not just the 2 screens but the ability to lay flat like a tablet with more screen real estate – 4.7″ diagonal.  The productivity gain is similar to having 2 screens for a desktop computer.  For email the device will allow you to scroll full screen and the use the right screen as a reading pane and then the left to see all if the messages – just like it would be in the desktop/webmail.  It’s well powered with the 1GHz Snapdragon and comes with 8GB of storage (expandable to 32GB).  I think this might run Nintendo DS roms some day.

The new Google phone is now the hottest thing on the planet.  The specs are out of control and the screen is bigger than the iPhone.  You can now get it on T-Mobile for only $179.

Bang & Olufsen is sweet if your rich.  I mean, for the most part their technology isn’t really outstanding but their design is off the charts.  This isn’t spared for the new BeoCom 5.  It looks great and it has a one-of-a-kind full duplex speakerphone is sure to impress.  It has support for VoIP and landlines as well as offering full customization.

The new Verizon version of an Android phone is almost here.  Its black, it has an incredibly high resolution display and the case is actually made of metal.  It’s touchscreen and has a keyboard.  Almost perfect, right?  For some reason they didn’t give it multi-touch ability but it still kicks the crap out of Windows Mobile.
