Engergizer Smart Charger and FREE BATTERIES!

Thank you Energizer for the Smart Charger. I watched the instructional video:

and got good reasons why I should be using rechargeable batteries. Apparently it only takes 8 minutes to recharge the batteries and get your kids to leave you alone! The Art Lebedev Studio has created some pretty cool things and especially the Optimus Maximus keyboard (an OLED display on each key – baller). This is a sweet junction of analog function in a sleek and modern design. Each number changes and shifts with a nice organic motion and would compliment any post-modern home quite well!

If you have 275K sitting around and you have no idea what to do with it, I would recommend buying a ridiculous phone. I really assume you can’t get a deal on it with a 2 year agreement either but it sure will look sweet. I mean, don’t expect to get a high res screen or mobile app ability or even GPS, but the nicest phone clock EVER – look out! It is handcrafted, has a sleek black case and is a must for the watch collector but just like thecoolist, I’ll stick to my Android phone.

Rechargeable batteries have been around for a while but now you can recharge them with your computer. This makes is convenient and easy to put some life back in your batteries. They are 20 bucks to buy a pair but if you think that you get about 500 charges before it starts to lose its effective charge quickly – this would save umm, about $80 in the long run.

Possibly one of the coolest things I have seen recently and judging by the video below – could be a real headline maker in the near future. I haven’t heard much buzz about this or maybe just not enough. Big companies are putting it to work though (eBay, Google, FedEx and more), and they are experiencing a real savings. Google is powering it with natural gas (a cleaner and more efficient fuel) and eBay has saved over $100,000 in energy costs because of it. I am all for green tech but key to the survival of some of these technologies is making it affordable along with a substantial difference in the amount of traditional energy that is consumed in its place. I’m intrigued, throw me some comments on this one…

This could be totally sweet for making a new Blair Witch Project movie or if you needed evidence as well as a way to protect yourself. Either way for $150 this can really make finding and recording bigfoot even easier. A tucked away MicroSD slot keeps the video while a 2MP camera records it and a Lithium Ion battery powers this and an 8 LED array for a whole 5 hours! Lets go coon huntin’!

Energizer Wii Induction Charger

I really can’t beat free stuff and this is no exception. The Wii Induction Charger by Energizer is a nice solution for avoiding the high cost of replacing batteries in your Wii. I have to admit that I have spent at least 20 bucks already in replacement batteries for the remotes and if you are even “remotely” eco-conscious its a bum deal to throw out batteries every month. The batteries charge and last just as long as well as being nice not having to worry about running out of battery during a game. For $30 It’s a great deal and now I can remain obsessed with Super Mario Brothers Wii.

I am posting this for a few reasons.
1) I think most tablets are stupid because their use is pretty narrow
2) Most tablets function is limited to what is already currently available
3) Making a cool tablet seems like it would be expensive

I can finally eat my words because now Apple has introduced a tablet to do more than just be a web browser. Now (just like I wished for) it can be a drawing tablet and integrate functionality that will really revolitoinize computing rather than just add to all the junk we buy for no reason. A cool idea and feel free to listen to the stream of the conference going on now.

Dell Slate

So I’ll admit, I have a problem with new tablets because I think they aren’t really a technological marvel because they are a laptop with a touch screen or a bigger version of my phone. When they make it a really nice drawing surface like the Wacom Techno Cintiq then I’ll consider it. However, this one has a phone, its not just a smaller PC or a netbook but a phone with more screen real estate and a descent OS. Finally someone is listening…

Skiff Reader: The Ultimate E-Reader | If you bought an Amazon Kindle DX in 2009, prepare for a heavy dose of buyer’s remorse. The Skiff Reader has overtaken the Amazon Kindle DX as the largest e-reader on the market, but its size isn’t what makes the Skiff so special. The Skiff Reader brings two new technologies to the large-scale e-reader market: a touchscreen e-ink display and “silicon thin-film-transistors on a flexible steel substrate”.

The Skiff Reader pushes the e-reader standard by featuring a full touchscreen display spanning 11.5-inches. The Amazon Kindle DX and smaller Kindle models don’t feature touchscreen e-ink, neither does that Barnes and Noble Nook (while the latter has an LCD touchscreen below the e-ink portion). This provides a new, finger-friendly world of navigation as you flip pages, highlight and select content modules and skim through your favorite ebooks.

The “silicon thin-film-transistors” technology is a bit more esoteric. In short, the technology used in the Skiff Reader makes it flexible– meaning it can bend and warp on a whim, giving it a more durable and rugged build in contrast to those crackable Kindles. The Skiff uses a metal foil design that merges with the thin film transistors to fit into a low-profile shape, in this case just a quarter-inch in thickness.

The Skiff reader is coming later this year, available at Sprint retail outlets and using the Sprint 3G network. While it’ll be some time until Skiff hits the streets, we can already hear the nervous hustle of the e-reader market trying its hardest to catch up.
