Nokia has jumped on the bandwagon of bike powered phone chargers and developed this fancy little device. Not the first of its kind to use the dynamo to create power where power is needed. The dynamo uses rotating coils of wire and magnetic fields to convert mechanical rotation into a pulsing direct electric current through Faraday’s law. Gotta love Wikipedia. This makes it really handy for people who possibly live in 3rd world countries that don’t have good access to power outlets and the bicycle is their main form of transport. I think its spiffy, and a 10 min ride at 6 mph will get you 28 mins of talk time. I would really like to see it power the web on a smartphone. Or maybe put it on your spinning machine and see if you can generate enough power to watch YouTube while you ride!
